The 6th Annual General meeting of Parama Dhamma Chetiya Pirivena Temple Conservation Fund was held on 20th January 2018, at the Dammashala under the chairmanship of Rev. Dr Maitipe Wimalasara Nayaka Thera with the participation of large number of members, invitees and dayakas of the temple.
Chief invitee for the occasion was Rev Wilegoda Ariyadewa Thera, former Professor of Ruhunu University. Rev.Mawanane Pannatissa Thera, deputy president of the Fund and other bhikkus of the temple with Divisional Secretary,Ratmalana Mr H.Piyathilaka were present for this occasion. The meeting commenced after observing Pansil and the lighting of traditional oil lamp by invitees and officials. After the welcome speech by Chief Organizer Mr Weerasena Hiniduma, chief invitee Rev.Wilegoda Ariyadewa Thera addressed the meeting and highlighted importance of having a Conservation Fund for the Vihara and its duty to protect and upkeep the Buddhism as an organization. Asst Secretary Mrs Himali Ariyawansa forwarded the annual report.
During the appointment of new office bearers for the year 2018, same office bearers were re-appointed unanimously and Mr Shelton Gamage have been appointed as new Internal Audit.
The occasion was featured with a pooja dance and a cultural dance item which were performed by students of Sri Siddhartha Dhamma school. A Video show of highlights of 5th AGM meeting and activities of the Fund during the year 2017 also presented.
During the Chairman’s address, Chief Incumbent Rev.Dr Wimalasara Nayaka Thera appreciated and expressed deep gratitude for the role of all officials and members and their generous contributions towards the fund which in turn acts as a great strength to maintain and upkeep the temple. Finally, Executive Member, Ms Chandani Abeynayake delivered the thanks giving speech and the meeting was concluded.
